The Spymaster Series by Browne Family Vineyards was inspired by founder Andrew Browne’s late grandfather, William Bitner Browne. A country boy turned war hero, Bitner was an OSS officer during World War II. Each label in the series tells a chapter of Bitner’s story. The rough pencil illustrations and debossed typewriter text on thick textured stock make the labels look and feel like pages out of Bitner’s notebook. The subtle spot gloss on the “Spymaster” script behind the title as well as the copper stamp on the sketch evoke hidden information and classified documents and lend an air of mystery and sophistication to the design.

The Spymaster Series won the Bronze Medal for Best Package Series Design in the 2019 Wines & Vines Packaging Competition.
